On June 30th, 1997 an 18-year-old girl named Megan Ridgeway was murdered. She was murdered by her ex-boyfriend at the Mauldin community pool in public. It was a horrific moment for the Greenville community and a devastating day for Megan’s family, loved ones, and community members that witnessed it.

At Safe Harbor, we are saddened and heartbroken as we hear about the increased incidents of violent hate crimes committed against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, including the massacre that took place in Atlanta on March 16th.

Jade came to us as an intern for the Fall semester of 2020 and continues to volunteer through our Ambassador Program. When asked why she chose to intern at Safe Harbor, Jade answered with “I just love the agency.”
